New Years Resolution 5,632....

To Blog more. I pretty much sucked last year, blogging every few months. I missed out on blogging on some majorly significant things last year. I do have a "get out of free card" (a baby) but still I need to get on it. Blogging falls right behind my other New Years Resolutions like ummm, organinzing my life, cooking classes, gym, laundry....blah, blah, blah.
So here goes, a lot has happened since I posted that picture of Sienna frozen in mid air jumping from the high board.
* We had an amazing lobster bake at our friends Melissa and Mark's house. All our close friends were there. The kids had a blast and we ate yummy lobsters, oysters, steamers and all the fixings
* Sophia started the 5 day 4's Preschool and loves it. She's learned to write her last name. She can recite her address and telephone number. She loves playing with all her friends.
* Sienna started riding lessons once a week with her friend Bella. She adores the horses and is a natural.
* Sophia turned 4. We had a great party at a horse stable. Sophia invited 25 of her closest friends and they all came. It was a great day. The party was followed by a smaller party at our house with a few of our friends and Gayle, my mom and Tommy. Sophia LOVED being the center of attention.
* Our neighborhood had a block party which was a TON of fun. The kids pretty much had free rein and ran around outside until well after dark. Meanwhile, the parents were all hanging out in the cul-de-sac drinking wine and eating the most delicious pizza from the green pizza truck that turned out incredibly gourmet pizza's, salads, gelato and cappacino's
* Sienna earned her purple belt in Karate.
* We went trick or treating on Halloween. Sienna was a (good) witch, Sophia and Ali were cats. It was FREEZING out.
* Sienna's has had about a million playdates this year.
* Sophia takes a gymnastics class
* Sienna takes piano lessons
* Sienna takes Jazz dance with a friend from her Kindergarten class
* I took a pole dancing class
* I took a latin dance class
* Rob started a new job, 2 miles from the house
* I became certified to teach children's yoga
* I took the girls to the Rockettes in NYC with Gayle and Alex N and all my girlfriends and their kids. Rockettes was followed by Central Park and dinner at American Girl Cafe.
* I went to the International Emmy's
* We celebrated Thanksgiving at Gayle's
* Sienna speaks an insane amount of Spanish. I have no idea what she's saying half the time.
* Sophia had a Christmas concert at school. My brother and Gayle came with Rob and I.
* Sienna built a killer gingerbread house
* Sienna is reading and writing like crazy
* We celebrated Christmas at our house in Westport then drove to Massachusetts to celebrate with the rest of the family
* We spent a ton of time with Amanda, Ray and MP over Christmas break. Ali loved not being the youngest for a few days. Ali did not hesitate to take toys away from Michael Philip..or poke him in the eye...or pull on his ears...or give him kisses
* Sienna turned 6!! Party at Gayles with the whole family from both sides. Cupcakes at school and cooking class and tea party this weekend at our house.

Ali is pretty much the most fantastic thing on the planet. She's happy ALL the time. Hardly ever cries. Doesn't sleep thru the night yet but that's ok. She eats whatever is in sight, she's never turned down a meal. Started eating 3 meals a day a few months ago. 2 teeth popped in at 6 months, 2 more coming now. She started crawling at 8 months and quickly started pulling herself up. We think she'll be walking soon. She loves giving kisses. She's still chilling out in the 90% for weight and off the charts for height. Ali adores her sisters and they are obsessed with her. Life is Great in our house.....

Labor Day

Labor Day was spent at Shorehaven, the Country Club we joined. We swam, played, layed in the sun, read and ate. The weather was fantastic and we had such a great day.

Sienna started KG this fall. She was looking forward to it all summer. Asking me almost on a daily basis how many more days until school starts. She loves school and I have to say that I do too. I LOVE her teacher. Her teacher teaches the kids yoga every morning. They have Spanish 3x's a week, PE twice, music, art and Tech. 3 long days and 2 short. The transistion was smooth with 3 friends from her pre school in her class. I volunteer a lot in her class. I'm co-room mom, I volunteer once a week in the art class and every other week in her class. I'm also there on occassion for recess duty. It's a really sweet place.
In addition to school, Sienna has a boatload of activites. She has started piano lessons. It's really great because she takes lessons with Rob, which she loves. She also takes riding lessons. She seems like a natural on the horse. I'm thinking riding might be her sport. She earned her purple belt in September as well. We are so proud of her!

or hire someone to do it. But it doesn't sound as catchy. Our final day of Janet's never ending birthday celebration was a combined birthday party and going away party for David. Rob and I hosted a clambake at our place with their closest friends and family. It was such a great and touching evening. I should back up a moment and fill you in that all the crazies started the day jumping out of an airplane. Maybe next time I'll join them.
Half of the celebration was geared to David who recently left for Boot Camp in Georgia. We all dressed in Army shirts and hats in support of him. We're so proud of him. Stay safe David!! We love you!!

The day after MV we went to Nantucket. Another great day, same crew with the addition of Paul Bradshaw. We spent the day shopping, eating, swimming, playing and strolling around the island. I even saw Billy Joel strolling around. Very cool.

The last week of August was so much fun. We celebrated Auntie Janet's 50th birthday almost every day for a week. One of the days was spent in Martha's Vineyard, possibly the highlight of my summer (that and going to the Today Show & Regis and Kelly with my girlfriends). So, my family, Janet, Alex, David, Tina, Gayle and our babysitter Jessica boarded an early ferry and spent the entire day exploring. We hit South Beach for a few hours, ate a delicious lunch, ice cream, shopped and jumped off a bridge. Everyone. Including Sophia. Sienna jumped 7 times. Sick!!

Ali turned 4 months....2 months ago. oops. Life gets in the way of blogging. 4 months was exciting for Alessandra. She was able to meet her cousin that is 3 weeks her junior. She traveled the Vineyard and Nantucket. She went to her 1st Red Sox Game. She started grabbing at things, following objects and smiled and laughed a lot. She rolled over both ways and ate REAL food! We also learned that she was off the charts for height at 26 1/2" and 90% for weight at 15 lb 9oz. It was an exciting 30 days!!

Such an amazing day! Alessandra Grace and Michael Philip were baptized together. After the ceremony we celebrated at our Cape house with our family and closest friends. It was such a special day and I'm so happy that Ali and MP were able to share it together. Alex and Joey are Ali's God Parents.....and I'm MP's God Mother with my brother Tommy!! Such a great treat for me!

We finally got to meet baby MP. My Godson, and the girls first "real" 1st cousin. MP was born in Atlanta 3 weeks after Ali. It KILLED me not being there for his birth, but I'll be there for the next one! Michael Philip is named after his two Grandfathers and he is the cutest little bundle of joy. The girls had a great time exploring Cape Cod with MP. We visited the beach a few times, explored Brewster and celebrated Uncle Tommy's 30th birthday! We also had a dual Christening for MP and Ali which was super dooper special with a party at our Cape house after. It was such an incredible day and we were very, very, very sad to see the Melancon's head back to Atlanta. I'm trying to convince my sister to come to Cape Cod next summer for a month.

one month ago..HA!! I'm a little behind but I guess that's the way it is.

We've been having a TON of fun with her. She's such a yummy little treat. She pretty much started sleeping thru the night at 6 weeks. She the smiliest baby, her whole face lights up when she smiles. Ali turning 3 months has marked a lot of milestones and fun experiences. She has started rolling over mostly belly to back but also rolls back to belly on occassion. She laughs, coos and babbles. She's grabbing and holding toys and will grab onto my hands to pull herself up. She's also starting to move around a little by doing a very basic army crawl...She's definetly not crawling yet but has been working on the arm and leg movements. She's really just the sweetest baby ever.

The weather has gotten a little cooler so we've been able to bring her to the ocean with us. She was great just hanging out in her carseat in the tentean yet. She doesn't love the ocean water but we have plenty of time to work on that!

Provincetown and Whale Watch

While The Sabino's and Woviotis' were visiting we took a trip down to P-Town. The weather was PERFECT. We grabbed lunch, strolled around town and then went on the most amazing whale watch. Being a bit cynical, I thought maybe we'd see one or two whales, the captain would meet his whale quota and we'd head back to shore. I couldn't have been more wrong. What was supposed to be a two hour trip turned into three hours because of all the whale activity. The naturalist was amazed at all the activity. We even saw a mother whale nursing her newborn. It was an incredible expereince. Our friend Kerri really put things into perspective when she noted with the ecological disaster in the Gulf it was really special and touching to see marine life untouched, unharmed and beautiful.
We started the day with face painting and balloons from a sidewalk clown (who so happens to be from Fairfield County)

Alessandra is doing incredible. Great sleeper, sweet disposition, smiley and easy going. She just makes me happy. So very happy, blessed, lucky and content. At her 2 month appointment she was hanging out in the 95th% for weight, height and head (13 lb and 24"). We've done some really fun things with Alessandra. She's traveled the Cape with us, swam in the pool, celebrated the 4th of July and went on a whale watch. She met her Uncle Zannie and Auntie Ker-bear from Atlanta.. We also had a great visit from our friends the Sabino's from Westport. We look forward to going to IRELAND with them next summer. Irish Lisa (as we call her) married an Italian but was born and raised in Ireland. It will be a great experience as a family to travel and explore her country with her family. Can't wait!!
The big girls are also doing fantastic. Sienna completed her first week of horse back riding lessons which she loved. She's also riding her bike without training wheels. Rob worked with Sienna and she learned a lot faster then we all expected. She flies down the road and will even practice "posting" (from her horse lessons) on her bike. Sophia is NOT far behind and expect her training wheels to be off very soon.
The girls also completed their very first week of "real" summer camp. While they have done lots of summer camp before, I think this is their real experience at rustic, old fashioned, no-frills camp. They went to Brewester Day camp. Get this, hours are 8:30-4:30 Mon-Fri. Camp is set on 4 1/2 acres of woods abutting beautiful Nickerson State Park. Camp motto is Courage, Hope, Good Spirit, and Peace. Every morning they put their backpack in a crate in a tent! They then sit around in a semi circle to open the day with a camp song and learn what they will be doing that day. Swim lessons twice a day, sports, ARCHERY! It's a super cool camp and a real gem. Dropping them off in the morning pulls at my heartstrings and actually makes me wish I was a kid again.

We had a great father's day. Daddy watched around 7 hours of golf and Si, So and Ali went swimming for a few hours. The highlight of the day occured when Daddy told Sienna to clean up her crayons or no swimming. Sienna replied "I know you think you're a king and everyone in the house has to listen to you and do whatever you say but that's not really the way it is." How does one respond to that? I for one am impressed that a five year old recognizes the proper hierarchy in the household. This post was written by "The King", by the way.

Goodbye Preschool, Hello Kindergarten

I can't believe the school year is all over. It went by so quickly and it at times it seems really unfair that time goes by as fast as it does. I really wish I could push pause or atleast slow motion every now and then. Sienna had her little graduation at preschool which was very emotional for me. She's ready, I'm not. All is evidenced by her Kindergarten open house a few weeks in where Sienna did not slow down when running into the Kindergarten class or did not turn back when she ran onto the school bus for the trial ride. How can she be so ready and I can't. I love her so much and just want to hold onto this little sweet, sensitive and thoughtful 5 year old girl forever.
In addition to preschool, she is doing all sorts of big girl things, like sleepovers. What??? I swear I was like 10 when I had my first sleepover, she's 5 and has already had two. Slow down, Si! Enjoy each moment baby!!

No, we did not give Alessandra her 1st bath at 2 months old...I'm just a little behind on things. In addition to being behind on things (laundry included) I'm also late to most things, have accepted that there is nothing wrong with showering every other day (day old spit up on my arm is SO in these days) and have given in to letting the girls eat chicken nuggets for dinner (they are free range and organic, which makes it so much better ;-)

Sienna and Sophia were arguing the other day. When arguments occur between them I tend to stay quiet unless it progresses to a point where arms are swinging, decibels have significantly increased or tears are flowing. It typically does not ever get to that point and I find these little harmless arguments really funny. So, they were arguing and Sienna says, "That's it Sophia I'm NOT playing with you at summer camp today. Quickly Sophia responds "I don't care, I'll play with my boyfriend" (It is KILLING me to not bust out laughing) Sienna says, "who is your boyfriend" (apparently there is more than one these days) Sophia says "Freddie" (which sounds more like Fweddie)

Today the girls were on the porch playing with a spider (because their 10 million and one toys in the playroom weren't enough fun). I stepped on the spider (sort of to make sure it wasn't a tick, which they also call spiders) when Sienna responded, "Mommy that was one of Gods creatures". I immediately felt the need to jump in the car and head over to confession.

Sienna was named "student of the month" at her karate studio for the month of May. Her sensai told her she was named for listening and focusing in class. We are SO proud of her. She was given a trophy and her picture is hanging in the studio!

That's what A-dog, or Tank, is measuring. When we were discharged from the hospital Alessandra weighed 9 lb 5oz. At her 2 week appointment she was 10lb 10.5 oz and 22 1/2 inches. So, weight, height and head all came in at 97%.
The girls have adjusted amazingly to her. Sienna loves holding and singing to her. Sophia plays big sister and tells other kids to not touch her face or hands, only feet. She's always on "pinky" patrol. When the baby cries, Sophia drops whatever she is doing and runs to the baby to give her binky. Life is incredible for us. Never in a million years did I think I could feel as complete as I do now. I feel so blessed for my family.

Atleast that's how I felt, as if I was toting an elephant around for the last 3+months. I knew that I was bigger than the last 2 times but had NO idea I would deliver a baby a full 2 pounds heavier! Seriously, I gave birth to a 3 month old.

Here are a few shots that Rob took while in "transistion". Half of the pictures were taken without my knowledge and the other half I think I was cursing at him under my breath. I won't bore you with details but I labored for 12+hours with pitocin (I was induced due to my super quick delivery with Sophia) only to get an epidural at 9 cm. I just couldn't make it any further. I used up all my energy. The last hour I was trying to channel all the women in the world who have no choice but to deliver naturally and I was using all the tools from the hypnobirthing book I read; but I just couldn't get past that 1 cm. Sounds so easy, right? It wasn't. The epidural was fantastic and although it was fairly mild and I could still feel a lot I was so exhausted that I actually fell sound asleep for an hour.

Spring has arrived. It's been in the 80's here and we are loving life. We've spent pretty much every waking minute outdoors enjoying our early spring. With Spring comes SOCCER! Both girls have decided to play and most of Sophia's class is on her team. This is her first time playing and she was so stinking cute!

We had a great Easter this year. Mimi, Grampa Bobby, Nana and Joe drove down to spend the day with us. Our good friends, Josh and Michelle joined us for dinner. The girls has three Easter egg hunts that weekend. On Easter Sienna and Sophia found the Golden and Silver egg. They spent the money on necklaces and hats at Crewcuts.

you're not pregnant. That's what Sienna told me the other day. I don't think she was trying to be hurtful, just honest. It's true. I can't carry her around, there isn't much room on my lap to sit, I can't run around and chase them around as much, I'm easily tired and short on patience. I don't blame them. I am more fun not pregnant....but I'm also giving them the greatest gift, a little sister. My body is creating another life. The thought of it still blows me away...and boy is the life inside me busy. She moves nonstop, despite the fact of lack of square footage, she somehow finds the room to manuver, backflip and kick. We're so excited to meet her in just a few weeks. What will she look like? Sienna? Sophia? Will she have dark hair like her sisters or will she be more fair complected? Sienna thinks she will cry a lot. Probably. We've been really bad with taking pregnant shots...Here are a few we took the other day. Enjoy.

It's also Sienna's belt rank in karate!!! Yup, we couldn't be more proud of her. Sienna tries so hard in karate and practiced a lot with Daddy for her belt advancement test. The instructor commented on her "power" during her test. After her test we took the girls out to Crumbs Cupcakes to celebrate, it's our little karate tradition.

Since the weather is sooooo very cold I'm trying to think of fun and different things to do indoors that are entertaining and will prevent the girls from killing each other. Yesterday I met my girlfriend Melissa and her two adorable boys at the bowling alley. It was so funny because Sophia would literally just drop her ball, it would roll about 3/4 way down and stop. So the attendants kept an eye on us because they were coming over about every 10 minutes to get the ball for us. All was going great until the kids noticed the motorcyles and arcade games behind us. Can't compete with motorcycles. After bowling we met our other friend Lisa and her children for dinner.

American Museum of Natural History

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE taking the girls into New York City. Rob HATES, HATES, HATES it. To him, it represents chaos, traffic, exorbitant parking costs, crowds, and the Yankees. I love just about everything about it I love the energy, the parks, the food, the entertainment, the accessibility and the I love the fact the my girls LOVE going into the city. So Rob and I are literally on two different planets when we go in together. He's just trying to "get it over" and I'm taking my time trying to enjoy every second, probably causing him more angst. It's always an interesting trip and I think by the time we leave Rob has smiled at least once and in general had a good time.
This week is school vacation and we decided to take the girls into the Natural History Museum. Sienna just finished learning about dinosaurs at school and after break they are starting the segment on butterfly's. The museum holds the largest collection of dinosaur fossils and they have an amazing butterfly exhibit going on. Perfect timing. Auntie Janet was in town visiting Alex so they met us at the museum.
We spent a few hours at the museum and then headed to lower Manhattan to check out Alex's apartment (so cute!) and then eat a delicious pizza dinner.
It was a super fun day!

Daddy Daughter Dance

The girls school hosted their annual Daughter Daddy Dance in February. It was a much anticipated event for the girls. They got all dressed up in their Christmas gowns, accesserized their jewelery and hairclips/band (all on their own), Sienna found a clutch and loaded up with the essentials for said dance (lip gloss and shades) and they headed out for their date. Being the gentleman that he is, Rob first took the girls out for a pizza dinner. Arriving at the school the girls were given coursages to wear and then they danced all night, the girls favorite being the hookey pookey. Apparently there was a little tension, Sophia did not want to share her Daddy with Sienna, so Rob had some juggling to do. Luckily all of Sienna's friends were there so she played and danced a lot with her girlfriends.

What? How? When did that happen?
Sienna turned 5. I can't believe it. I feel like it was yesterday that Rob and I were wandering thru Siena, Italy 8 weeks pregnant thinking it would be neat to name our child (if it were a girl) Sienna. Yet at the same time it feels like she has been here all along. She's an extension of us, can't even begin to think of life without her. She has been such a joy, such a treat and I feel incredibly blessed to be her mom. She is one of the sweetest, compassionate, loving, conscientious, grateful, intelligent, sensitive girls in the world. She loves everyone. In fact, if you ask her who her best friend is, she'll name them all. Her teachers love her. Impressed that she plays equally with the boys and girls. She's the girl wearing 5 necklaces, 3 rings, a dress and big bow headband in her hair playing Star Wars with the boys at recess. They describe her as being extremely focused at her school work and a friend to everyone. She loves her sister dearly, saving her a seat everyday at lunch. And she says the sweetest things to me, like when she said "Mommy you are pregnant, you tell me what you need done and I'll do it, you can't do everything for us" or when saying goodnight "Mommy sleep well and have a good night with the baby" I could go on and on....
So here we are at 5 years, so curious to see what the next, 5, 10 and 15 years have in store for her yet I wish time could sit still for just a little bit so I could relish in the little lady of ours.
We celebrated Sienna's birthday at Hibachi, our family tradition. A few weeks later we had her kids birthday with 20 5 year olds at the local gymnastics spot.

Christmas

All this great buildup this Holiday season did not lead to any disappointment in the Peck house. We had a fantastic Christmas this year. Maybe the best one yet. Gayle came down the weekend before to celebrate with the girls early. We had a great time cooking breakfast and opening gifts. The following weekend we had our good friends Josh and Michelle over for a Thanksgiving style Christmas Eve dinner. They really enjoyed watching the girls in all their frenzy. The girls put out cookies and milk for Santa and carrots for the reindeer. Sienna gave strict intstructions to Sophia that once she was in bed she could not get out and informed us that we had to go to bed early in order for Santa to come. As soon as the monkeys went to sleep the elves were hard at work, setting up bikes, scooters, bookshelves, doll beds and about a million other things. We watched National Lampoons Christmas Vacation (standard) said goodbye to Josh and Michelle and went to bed.
The next morning was great. Sienna woke up and immediately knew it was Christmas, Sophia still had sugar plums dancing in her head so it took a minute for her to remember it was Christmas morning. The girls stormed down the stairs and tore into their stockings and gifts. They loved every moment and were incredible grateful for all they recieved. We ate donuts and a a big breakfast. Uncle Glenn stopped by for a quick visit and the girls spent the remainder of the day playing with all their new toys.
Around noon we packed up the car to head to Massachusetts to visit with my mom and brother briefly and then to Janet's house to have dinner with Rob's entire family.
A couple of days later my mom, Bobby, brother and Grandmother came to Cape Cod to celebrate with us. It was such a great Christmas. Hands down, no competition the girls favorite gifts this year were the American Girl dolls from my mom. Thanks Mom! You outdid Santa ;-)

In the madness of the Holiday season it can be so difficult to get together with friends. We took an evening off to slow down and enjoy great company. I hosted and had 4 girlfriends bring their kids over to decorate cookies, eat pizza and have a major playdate. It was a great evening to share with friends, enjoy adult girl company and talk. The kids thought it was the greatest, biggest, and longest playdate ever.

The girls attend a Christian Preschool this year, which we love. They come home telling me Bible stories and singing gospel songs. It is so sweet. It was no surprise that the school fully embraced the Holiday season with age appropriate events. Sophia's class sang Christmas songs and Sienna's class had a pagent. Sienna had the option of dressing as an angel, wise man or Mary. Of course she chose the angel. It was such a sweet day with many tears rolling down my cheek. It made it even more special that Rob, Glenn and Gayle were able to attend.

This Christmas season was incredible for me. The girls were totally into, I mean into every aspect of Christmas. The cards, the tree, the carols, the school pagent and THE ROCKETTES CHRISTMAS SPECTACULAR!

I've never been before this year but now hope to make this an annual trip. The day ranks up with some of my most favorite moments of all time. We drove into the city for an 11:00 am showing. We had amazing seats and the girls eyes were glued to the stage. I've never seen the show before and must have cried three time because I was so happy to be there with my family and at the beauty and precision of the dancers. Sienna told me her favorite part were the angels, manger, wise men and baby Jesus.
After the show we walked around Rockefeller for a bit, taking in the tree and beautiful store fronts. He hit up the Disney store on 5th, which is sadly closing and then finished the day with a HUGE surprise for the girls....Lunch at the American Girl Cafe. This place is a little girls dream. Each girl gets a high chair for her doll, warm cinammon rolls, shirley temples, milkshakes, fancy little sandwiches, pizza, ice cream. The list goes on and on. The girls were so well behaved and in awe of their surrondings. Can't wait to do that again!

The Princess and the Frog

Back in December I braved NYC being 5 1/2 months pregnant with the 2 girls by myself. Not trusting my bladder we drove into the city instead of taking the train (to much disappointment to the girls). We had a special day planned. The girls were dressed in Princess gowns, adorned in jewels and heels to see the premiere of the Princess and the Frog before it hit regular theatres. It was in old fashioned movie theatre (Ziegfeld Theatre) with red velvet walls and carpet. The theatre was incredible and the movie was great.
After the movie we walked two blocks to a convention center for a meet and greet with ALL of the Disney princesses. I mean all of them, including Mulan and Pochontas. It was a truly magical day for the girls.
The girls have since seen the movie again, with Rob. After Rob watched the movie he got a hunkering for shrimp gumbo and has made it 4 times since. I've got to say it's really delicious.

Better late then never!
Rob and I took the girls to see the Nutcracker at the County Playhouse (Paul Newman's theatre) in Westport. We made a special day of it. We started the morning by picking out our Christmas tree. Then we went home and dressed the girls in their Christmas dresses and headed to play. It was so great. Sienna was in awe of the beautiful ballerina's. Not taking her eyes off the stage. Sophia lasted the first act and then was totally over it, spending 95% of the 2nd act in the lobby with Robby.
After the play we headed home to decorate the tree. The girls really loved this. They enjoyed hearing stories about all of our special ornaments and carefully hung them on the tree. The night was concluded with Chinese food (ALWAYS a hit with the girls) and a Christmas movie. It was a really special day.

I can't believe Thanksgiving has come and gone. Where has the time gone? Atleast I'm posting Thanksgiving before Christmas...

We got up early in Westport, piled in the car and drove up to my mom's house in Massachusetts. We had a great day spent with Amanda and Ray visiting from Atlanta, Tommy, my Grandmother and her beau Joe, my Mom and her husband Bobby. It's been a long time since we were all together and we really enjoyed each others company. My mom did an amazing job with the meal, cooking an enormous 24 lb turkey. My contribution was homemade cranberry sauce (not nearly as delish as the canned artifically flavored and preservative rich stuff). We capped off the day at Gayle's house joining Rob's entire family for dessert. It was a great day full of lovely memories.

We love to take the girls hiking. It's great for them to get out and run around in the fresh air, exploring the woods and nature. They love to lead the way. It was especially fun in mid October with the beautiful foilage.

Sienna recently earned her yellow belt in karate. We were so proud of her. She had to get up in front of her entire class and all the parents to demonstrate her skills. She was then presented with her yellow belt and a trophy.

Back in October I took the girls to the Bronx Zoo. The weather was gorgeous and the kids had a great time. I was amazed that it only took 35 minutes to drive to the zoo. I was so impressed with the Bronx Zoo. We spent about 6 hours and I swear we only saw half of it. We timed it perfectly because they were celebrating "Boo at the Zoo", so we did super cool things like a haunted hay ride and enjoyed all the Spooktacular decor. We were able to visit with the giraffes, lions, polar bears, cheetas, jaguars, monkeys, and snakes. The girls were disappointed that the bears were hiding in their caves. I promised another trip in the future to see our friends, the black bears. A big highlight of our trip was the face painting. Seriously, the woman was amazing.

A few weeks after the Bronx Zoo we met Auntie Janet and Tina at the Mystic Aquarium. Another very cool day. Sienna and Sophia were enthralled by the Beluga Whales and the penguins.

The Beluga's were by far the girls favorite. The tank was enormous and the girls would run along the Beluga as he swam by. Sienna was so excited to see the Beluga that she brought her stuffed animal Beluga to show the real Beluga.

Over the weekend I asked Sienna to take a picture of my belly so I could send it to my sister. As Sienna was holding the camera, she glanced at me with those giant blue eyes and innocently asked, "Mommy do you want your ass in the picture?" Judging from the completely puzzled look on my face she then said, "is that bad I said that?" Unable to really speak I simply said "that's an adult word, and NO just my belly please."

Halloween was the most anticipated day to date for Sienna. She woke up every morning asking it was Halloween yet. The girls had a Halloween parade at school which was so sweet. Halloween day was celebrated in our neighborhood cul-de-sac with all of our neighbors and Gayle sharing pizza, wine and juice boxes followed by hours of trick or treating. The weather was gorgeous, 68, not bad for October in New England.

I used to be so good at posting...but life happens, keeps us busy, which is a great thing. So it's time to play catch up. I have about a million pictures to post, ummm including shots from Sophia's birthday, well over a month ago. They'll come. I promise. Now for all of our exciting news.

The girls LOVE school! And I LOVE school 5 days a week! I especially love lunch bunch, an extended school day, perhaps the greatest invention ever. The girls are at a new school this year, a Christian school. I love when they come home and share the bible stories from a 3 and 5 year olds perspective. For instance, a few weeks ago I overheard Sienna telling Sophia that Sophia was Zaccirus and Sienna was Jesus. Sophia replied " No CC I'm Jesus and you are God." Seriously?

They've made lots of new friends and have started their independant playdates. I love these. They are picked up from school by the other mom and I pick them up a few hours later. So great. After a year of watching and being left behind, Sophia was so excited to have a real playdate of her own, with a boy. Of course.

Speaking of boys....Sienna has turned into quite the little flirt. No idea where she inherited this from :-) Although she's a bit more bold than I ever was. She has no problem telling a boy that she thinks he's "handsome".

Activites....Sienna is doing karate. She LOVES karate! She is very focused and very good at it. She is getting her yellow belt next month. Both girls are in ballet (the same class). It is very cute. They enjoy it and we get to watch their recital at the end of the year. Their favorite part is sneaking up to watch the real ballerina's pracitce. They stand on their toes, press their faces against the glass and stare with complete reverance and awe at the "beautiful ballerina's". It's the sweetest thing.

AND for our BIG, HUGE news (that most of you alreaday know by now). Sienna is going to be a "big, big sister" and Sophia is going to be a "big sister" in April. We are beyond excited and blessed. We're having another girl, Sienna's response, 'ohhhh, I wanted a brother" Well, she's moved past that and is having a great time helping us with names.

So...I came home one day after being gone awhile to the babysitter running at full speed out the front door with a red face and tears....(ahhh, ummmm, what the hell happened to my kids? ) I get the "I swear, you will think this is funny in 5 years." (BREATH, my kids are alive, they are ok) " I was cleaning the pizza up and the girls went to the bathroom, I swear it was only 90 seconds. I went to the girls bedroom and almost died, they had scissors and were cutting. Hair everywhere. I am So SORRY. I called my sister (who has 2 kids) and she said if it happened to her that she would hate me....I am SOOO SORRY." Tears! This is what my babysitter told me. Apparently they snuck the scissors out of the art supply box. Really, I'm surprised it took this long to happen. It was going to happen one of these days. I just felt bad for our babysitter that it happend on her watch. When we asked Sophia why she did it, her response "my bangs were in my eyes" She literally took scissors completely attacked her bangs. Some pieces so short you can't even pull it from her head, she literally cut her hair to her head. Sienna ,on the other hand, layered her hair. She went for the all over cut. Luckily, her hair is curly (or was, most of that is gone) so it's pretty forgiving. The next morning Sienna woke up upset crying, "it's still short Mommy"

Catching up from Summer

We had such a great summer! My mom got married (at our house), Sienna and Sophia were the gorgeous flower girls. Sienna was dropping the flowers as if she were a flower girl a million times before. Sophia was running behind Sienna picking up all the dropped flowers. Then it came time for pictures and Sienna said "one picture, that's it!" She meant it, one picture was taken and Sienna ran to her room, tore her dress off and and changed into comfy clothes. The weather was amazing, day was great and we couldn't have been any happier for my mom and Bobby.
The wedding also brought lots of family together, Amanda and Ray came up from Atlanta, Uncle Steve from NH and my very good friend, Marti, flew up from Atlanta to photograph the day. She did an incredible job!!
A week after the wedding we had a great visit from our bestest friends, the Deljou's. They came for 2 weeks and it was fantastic! We went to Newport, Wellfleet, Chatham, the beach and basically all over Cape Cod. It was so great to see Sienna and Ava reunited. Sophia and Mila were the sweetest duo, and Pazh renamed Sophia, Cherrybomb...which is so suiting and Sienna's new nickname is CC-ia...because she is a bit if an, ahem, tattle tale....so funny
Other than that lots of family time. The girls enjoyed 2 weeks at summer camp. Sienna was a Sand piper and Sophia was a Bluebird. Well, Sophia was a Bluebird for 2 days until she decided she wanted to be a Sandpiper and REFUSED to go in her class....So they went with it. We were able to enjoy Rob home for a 2 week consecutive vacation, which was so nice.

We decided to do something special for Daddy this Father's Day. He works so hard and it's easy to take advantage of the beautiful homes and opportunites he has given us. The girls and I headed to the local pottery shop to create a great gift for Daddy (and memory for me). Three of Rob's favorite things are:

3. Soup
So the girls got together to paint a coffee cup and soup bowl for him...they worked so hard and were incredibly proud of their accomplishment.

I want to put out the disclaimer that when I post things I am in no way bragging or boasting about my girls. I do not have a babybook for them so I treat the blog as a babybook to document all the cool things my monkeys are doing.

Sophia is completly pottytrained! Very rarely having accidents and almost always waking up dry in the morning. We are so very, very, very proud of her. She can sing her abc's and can count to 13. She's growing so big and her curly, yes curly, hair is now half way down her back. Where did the time go??

Sienna can count to 100 (which she does often, over and over again....arrrgghhhhh:-) and she is reading 3 and 4 letter words. She's doing great with the Bob books and was getting "homework" sent home everynight from preschool. She loves her homework and honestly looks forward to it every day. It's typically 2 or 3 sheets of sight words to review and a 10 page book to read. It's amazing to watch them develop.

Tuesday is Sienna's last day of school. The 4's program was amazing and we're really going to miss her lovely teacher. but now we have something else to look forward to.....SUMMER CAMP!!! YAY

Yup, Sophia is out of diapers. She even wears "big girl undies" to school and gymanstics. We've been very successful with only a few opps and all of those are #2.

Sophia decided on her own to potty train by refusing to wear diapers. As I was fastening one side she was was tearing it off saying, "no more diapers!"

Rob was watching tv this morning and Sienna told him that she wanted to watch Judge Judy. Apparently when my mother in law watched the monkeys last week when I was Cali they logged in some quality tv time.

Today Sienna told me that her favorite books are Mermaid Kingdom and Twilight.

This is the best one yet...Amanda asked Sienna what she wanted to be when she grows up. Without hesitation she answered "a big sister". Amanda asked what else do you want to do, "Be a Mommy". Then Amanda said what do you want to do for work, Sienna replied, "Spend lots of money"......ahhhh

i've neglected my blog these last few weeks. we've been so busy with easter, great weather, gearing up for the end of the school year and my amazing trip to sonoma. i will try to update more regularly.

the girls are doing incredible. leaps and bounds. sienna has started to read, which is so cool! she is also starting to write a lot. the other day when she was drawing an apple she decided to sound the word out and write it herself, the result was incredible.... aple. then she wanted to write rabbit. sounding it out she wrote, rab( i needed to help her with "i")t. i was blown away.
sophia is still the social butterfly she was put on this earth to be. so funny and so, ummm...strong willed :-) we are in the middle of trying to potty train. i think once i really invest the proper time she will be trained....i do have a deadline, in order for her to go to summer camp, she needs to be fully trained. so i need to get a move on!

lots and lots and lots of bike riding. that's what we seem to do the most of. rob and i are thinking about taking the training wheels off of sienna's bike within the next few days.
today is mothers day/my birthday so we have lots of family time planned today. happy mothers day to all the wonderful moms!

A WICKED good time

For Christmas Rob gave Amanda and I tickets to see Wicked on Broadway. It was breathtakingly amazing and I was so sad when it was over. The play was absolutely incredible . Before the show we had a fab dinner at Buddakan and many, many cocktails. Have I mentioned how much I LOVE NYC!?!?!

We had such an amazing week in Atlanta. We pretty much did everything we set out to do. Zoo, Aquarium, visit to Sienna's old preschool, playgroup, hanging out at the old house, lots of time with Auntie & Uncle Ray, the Deljou's, Zan and Kerri. We also managed to squeeze in lots of adult only evenings out.

It was so wonderful to be able to see our loved and missed friends. You guys are the best!!

I'm thinking that we've reached the light at the end of the tunnel. I know we'll have a few more cool days but for the most part, the weather has drastically improved. Last weekend we were outside on Saturday from noon until 7:00 pm and Sunday the family biked all over Westport, stopping at the playground for about an hour. Yesterday I took the girls to the Stamford Nature Center which was pretty incredible. We hiked for a good bit, chilled out at the playground and then walked around the 19th Century working animal farm...which was super cool. This afternoon I took the girls to The Westport County Playhouse to see Seussical the Muscial.. When the weather is nice, we stay busy. We're about to head outside in a few minutes to join our neighbors for more playing.

The girls are doing so well. Sienna knows all the planets, several dinosaurs and is starting to read. She loves drawing pictures and coloring. Her new phrases is "Mom, I'm serious!"
Sophia is still cracking us up. She is still loving art, gymnastics and school. She is talking a ton and her new phrase is calling people a "poopy head". BOTH girls are left handed

Snow Day!

We had a Ma-jah snow day last week. We woke up with the yard blanketed with gorgeous snow. We baked homemade cookies (yes, of course they were whole grain), pumpkin bread, pancakes, art projects, watched a movie and cooked dinner.....all before 11:30....then we ventured outside for some winter wonderland fun. Came in for hot coco, warmed up, put on all our gear again to go sledding.. This was not as successfull, it was F-F-F-F-FREEZING and WINDY!!! So, sledding was very quick.

We were invited to a birthday party this weekend at Medieval Times in New Jersey. It was a really fun event. The jousting and horses were exciting to watch. There was a sinful amount of food that would nourish a band of Gladiators. Sienna didn't enjoy the food much because it was"too messy" due to the lack of any silverware. One of the knights took a liking to us and kept throwing flowers at us and invited us up to the arena to take a banner that said "Queen of Love and Beauty" off his sword." It was a very fun day!!

I know, how is this any different from a typical day? A few weeks ago Sienna was invited to an all girls birthday party at a local childrens salon. Think, mani's, hair, make-up and fashion show.. Sienna requested for her hair to be flat ironed .....oh! and ALL pink. the girls were instructed to dress in pink and they ate Pinkalicious cupcakes.

We celebrated Sienna's 4th birthday in early January at our house. 26 kids!! We had such a great day. The theme was The Wizard of Oz and C dressed us as Dorothy. We had a dance freeze, Pin the Tail on the Donkey, and make your own ice cream sundaes. Throughout the day I overheard kids saying "this is an awesome party". Here a few photos from the day.

Over the last few weeks Sienna has been learning about the planets. This a real conversation that transpired between Sienna and Auntie:

Amanda: "Sienna what planet do you live on?"
Sienna: "Ummm, Auntie I live on Earth.. What planet do you live on?"
Amanda: "I live on Earth too! "Sienna, Earth is very big"
Sienna: "Yeah Auntie but the sun is even bigger!"

A few weeks ago Sienna turned 4. She is so happy to be 4 since all of her classmates are already 4 (some 5). She told me that since she is 4 she can help me clean and make her bed. OK!

On Sienna's birthday Rob, Sophia and I took her to hibachi, which she totally loved. We were joined by Citho and cousin Alex. We had a great time. We finished the evening at home with a round of "Happy Birthday to You" and cupcakes
